The core difference
Intuit Link is built as a companion tool to Intuit's accounting ecosystem — ProConnect, QuickBooks, and Lacerte. If your firm is already heavily invested in Intuit products, it can make sense as part of that workflow.
The friction point that most accountants run into: clients are asked to create an Intuit account before they can upload documents. For many clients — especially older or less tech-comfortable ones — this is where the process breaks down.
No account requirement. idutax sends clients a direct link. They click it, see a checklist of what's needed, and upload. No registration, no password, no app download. This is the single biggest factor in upload completion rates.
Works outside the Intuit ecosystem. If your firm uses Xero, Sage, or a mix of tools — or if you simply prefer not to be tied to one vendor's stack — idutax operates independently. There's no QuickBooks subscription required to use it.

E-signature. Intuit Link does not include built-in e-signature. idutax does — engagement letters, CRA T1013 authorizations, consent forms — signed through the same portal where documents are collected.
When Intuit Link is the better choice
If your firm already uses ProConnect or Lacerte and your clients are generally comfortable with Intuit's interface, the integration may outweigh the friction of requiring an account. The ecosystem fit can be worth it for practices that are standardized on Intuit tools.
